Designer Dublin Christmas Market comes to College Green

On Friday the 12th December 2014 from 10am till 5pm and Saturday 13th December 2014 from 10am till 6pm, the Bank of Ireland forecourt at Dublin’s College Green will transform into a two day Designer Dublin Christmas Market. Over thirty designers and craftspeople, all based in the capital, will be showcasing their unique Irish handcrafted creations.

The initiative, promoted by Dublin City Council’s Local Enterprise Office, Bank of Ireland, and Plato Dublin, is aimed at encouraging the public to buy Irish-handcrafted gifts for Christmas. The Designer Dublin Christmas Market will be showcasing the best design in Irish-made fashion, jewellery, art, toys, furniture, ceramics, craft and artisan food produce.

“With a wide range of Irish-made gift ideas to suit all tastes and budgets on offer, we’re expecting this to be the biggest Designer Dublin Christmas Market yet,” said event organiser, Marion Walshe.

Admission is free and visitors can expect to meet and speak to top designers about their work and latest creations.  Designers such as Jacinta Hughes from Trinket Box (jewellery), Adrienne Crowe from Seraph (pottery), Aidan Smyth (jewellery), Sarah McGahon (hats), Matthew Croker from Mecy Design (furniture) and Emmet Kelly from Ecofun (Wooden Toys) will showcase their creations at the market.

Visitors to the Christmas Market will be spoiled for choice, with a wide range of gift ideas available, for all age groups and budgets. A brass band will play Christmas carols each day and Santa Claus will make an appearance on Saturday!
