Innovation Dublin is an annual festival held in Dublin. Its purpose is to showcase and celebrate the innovation and creativity that is taking place in Dublin, to inspire and stimulate innovation and creativity and to encourage networking opportunities.
Innovation Dublin is supported by a network of organisations across Dublin’s universities, government and business sectors. Dublin City Council Economic Development Unit (EDU) co-ordinates and manages the programme of events.
In 2009, the festival was held over 7 days and the programme included over 465 events organised across the City Region by 54 partner organisations. In 2010, the festival was expanded to 12 days. 393 events were held, in over 77 venues throughout the city, with 117 organisations participating. In 2011 the festival ran for 33 days. There were 827 high quality events organised by 122 organisations.
Innovation Dublin is a Creative Dublin Alliance project.
Innovation Dublin became part of a European Funded project (INTERREG IVB NWE) called Open Innovation.(IOIT).
As a result, a group from Dublin (made up of Dublin City Council, UCD and the National College of Ireland) is partnering with eight cities in the north west of Europe (UK, France, Germany and Belgium) to promote the understanding and application of open innovation principles to boost the economic competitiveness of the North West Europe region.
