How and when you pay your bill depends on how your charges are calculated.
Note: If you have difficulty paying your bill, please contact us as soon as possible. This is important because you could be disconnected if you consistently fail to pay your charges. Read more about disconnections below.
How to pay your bill
You can pay water charge in the following ways:
- Post: Send a cheque (crossed and made payable to Dublin City Council), money order or postal order to the Rates Office. Our full address is shown below.
- Cash: To pay by cash you must call in person to the Rates Office. Our full address is shown below. (Note: do not send cash by post.)
- Electronic Fund Transfer: Contact the Chief Cashier at the Rates Office, at (01) 222 2873.
When to pay your bill
For Customers on Metered Consumption Charges
You are billed according to a schedule based on your levels of consumption:
- Monthly bills: This applies to high-consumption customers.
- Quarterly bills: This applies to medium-consumption customers.
- Half-yearly bills: This applies to low-consumption customers.
All meter readings are made automatically. You can also request to have your meter read at any stage. To request a meter reading, please contact us at the address below.
For Customers on the Fixed Charge
A fixed charge bill is sent to you each year.
This bill must be paid in 2 equal instalments on April 1st and October 1st each year.
What to do if you have difficulty paying your bill
If you have difficulty paying your water bill, please contact us as soon as possible. We can then discuss how to resolve the situation in a mutually agreeable fashion.
Disconnection for Non-Payment
You will be disconnected if you consistently fail to pay your water charges.
This is an expensive option for you and us, and will only be taken as a last resort. As such, please contact us at the address below if you have any difficulty paying your bill.
