Structural Engineering

The Structural Engineering service provides civil and structural engineering support to the various aspects of housing provision and management. Services include engineering design, site clearance and enabling works. The section also provides structural advice to other Dublin City Council Departments.

Building works inspections

The Clerk of Works team is responsible for a range of inspection and supervision roles in respect of existing buildings and construction contracts.

BER assessments and accessibility audits

City Architects Division includes a number of trained BER Assessors who carry out energy efficiency assessment and certification on the Council’s dwellings. We also carry out inspections of the accessibility of the Council’s public buildings and advise on works to ensure that the circulation areas and facilities meet users needs and are in line with current design standards.

Research in sustainable design

The Council aims to lead in the development of buildings which are both resilient and more environmentally sustainable. To this end City Architects carries out an ongoing commitment to research in more sustainable building design.
