This new initiative represents an expansion of the options available to Dublin City Council, Fingal County Council, South Dublin County Council and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for the delivery of social housing. Properties will be leased from the private sector and used to accommodate households from the waiting list. Leased properties will be allocated to tenants, in accordance with Dublin City Council's (or relevant Local Authority’s) allocations scheme.
The main features of the new arrangements are as follows:
- Dublin City Council (or relevant Local Authority) will enter into lease arrangements with property owners for periods of between 10 - 20 years.
- Properties will be tenanted, managed and maintained by Dublin City Council (or relevant Local Authority).
- Rent will be guaranteed for the whole lease period.
Dublin City Council on behalf of the 4 Dublin Local Authorities seeks expressions of interest from property owners for the provision of dwellings under this initiative. All expressions of interest must be returned directly to Dublin City Council on the submission template available below.
