Dublin City Council works to meet the accommodation needs of the Travelling Community as well as other issues, such as community development.
We have housed members of the Travelling Community since 1968 when the first traveller housing was built in Labre Park, Ballyfermot. Since then we have housed more than 350 traveller families in standard housing, group housing schemes and halting sites.
A recent survey reveals that there are around 651 traveller families living in the City Council area. 128 of these families have been housed in standard houses. 351 of these have been housed in traveller specific housing and halting sites on the northside and 172 on the southside.
