"Log on and Discuss" your City's Future Development
City Development Plan 2011 - 2017: "Your City, Your Say"

Keeping pace with modern life, Dublin City Council has become the first Local Authority in Ireland to engage with the public on Ireland's largest internet discussion board.  Using www.boards.ie , the Council hopes to connect with people, stimulate on-line discussion and make it easier for everyone to submit their views on the new City Development Plan, which comes into effect in 2011.  Submissions can be made via boards.ie and also www.dublin.ie/devplan

The Development Plan is a statutory plan that sets policy for the planning and development of Dublin City for a six-year period.  The process of making a new City Development Plan 2011 - 2017 commenced on 21st January 2009 and will take two years to complete.

Dublin City Council is urging everyone to take the opportunity to have their say in the future development of their City by simply logging on to boards.ie.  The first stage in the plan-making process involves public consultation on the big issues facing the City.  This was published in an Issues Paper on 21st January 2009, which will be on public display in all public libraries and City Council Area Offices until 18th March.  Formal submissions can be made up to and including 18th March 2009.

"We realise that we need new ways to consult with people and hear their views.  People are communicating with each other in completely new ways and the City Council needs to keep pace with that.  Modern lifestyles don't always afford people the opportunity to come to our public meetings so we are changing our ways in reaching people to fit in with the demands of their daily lives" said Michael Stubbs, Assistant City Manager, Planning and Development Department.
