Dublin’s Lord Mayor will lead a delegation to San Jose in a bid to bolster IT links for Dublin City. The Lord Mayor will be accompanied, among others, by the City Manager, the President of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and CEO of Dublin Chamber of Commerce. The group will meet with Hewlett Packard and with ITLG. The Irish Technology Leadership Group is a Irish American business based in Silicon Valley who work to ensure that Dublin and Ireland continue to attract the maximum investment from Silicon Valley.
“I believe that in the current global crisis we need to fight hard to ensure that Dublin’s agenda remains strong on the world stage. Dublin is the economic engine of this country. Our success will be Ireland’s success but we cannot simply wait for conditions to change, we must be that change. During my visit I hope to express Dublin’s gratitude for business in the past and assure investors that Dublin has many advantages in a global market, not least our quality of life and the ‘can-do’ attitude of our entrepreneurs”, stated Lord Mayor Eibhlin Byrne.
The Lord Mayor hosted ITLG during a visit to Dublin last November and her visit to San Jose will be followed by a strong delegation from Dublin promoting the capital as an important centre of Research and Development. The Lord Mayor who is Chairperson of the Visiting Committee of Dóchas, the women’s prison at Mountjoy will also visit prisons in the US in order to explore any new possibilities for female prisoners in Ireland.
“We are living in critical times. I believe that we have experienced hurt and anger but we must move on. We have to push the Dublin agenda globally. It is the only hope for our children’s future and Dublin City Council will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to lead Dublin to recovery and a positive future.”
