Dublin’s Lord Mayor Eibhlin Byrne will officially open two new developments for older persons at Claddagh Green, Ballyfermot on Wednesday 11th February 2009 at 12.00noon.
The Claddagh Green development consisting of 79 dwellings comprises a mix of one and two bedroom homes, which are fully fitted out with all modern conveniences to equal any private development. The development includes a new community facility on site for use by residents.
The Lord Mayor Eibhlin Byrne said, “This development represents Dublin City Council's commitment to high quality accommodation for our senior citizens. I hope that Claddagh Green will provide a safe, comfortable and happy home for all our residents."
Claddagh Green development was built to the highest standards by Laing O’Rourke Construction and designed by Dublin City Council’s Architects Department and Crean Salley Architects at a cost of €20.8m. Funding was provided by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government. The 79 dwellings, which the Lord Mayor is opening, form part of a larger development at Claddagh Green, which also involved the construction of 13 family homes and a youth club.
