Rapid Co-Ordinators Flood Relief Appeal

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Emer Costello,  will see off the first consignment of white goods and furniture from The Oscar Traynor Coaching Centre, Oscar Traynor Road, Dublin 17 to Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, tomorrow, Thursday 3rd  December, at 11.45am to help alleviate the hardship experienced by those affected by the recent severe flooding.

The 9 Rapid Co-Ordinators in the Dublin City Council area have developed a strategy to coordinate aid for this humanitarian effort in conjunction with the help of the country’s 37 other Rapid Co- Ordinators and the kind donations of essential items by the general public.

“In times like this true community spirit comes to light.  This is a great example of the real meaning of community and the willingness and generosity of the Irish people to rally around and support each other showing the true meaning of Christmas”
said the Lord Mayor.

For those interested in donating to this appeal, please call the Dublin City Council Services Desk at 01 2222222 and ask to speak to a Rapid Coordinator.

The appeal will concentrate on items such as furniture, fittings, flooring, paints, etc. and non perishable food, fuels, bed linen etc.

Rapid Co-Ordinators will endeavour to secure these items for delivery as soon as possible to those in need.
