Neighbours, Everybody Needs Good Neighbours

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Eibhlin Byrne, in conjunction with the North Central Area Community Development Team, will host a function in the Mansion House, on Wednesday, 27th May 2009 at 5pm, to mark European Neighbours Day, which is being celebrated throughout the European community this week.

Over 100 members from invited active retirement groups based in the Clontarf area will attend. Among the groups attending are Kincora Active Retirement Group, Clontarf Active Retirement Group, Clontarf Ladies Club, St. Gabriels Ladies Club, St. Gabriels Seniors Group and the Irish Countrywomens Association.

“I am delighted to have my friends and neighbours here this evening to celebrate the wonderful occasion that is European Neighbours Day. We are all encouraged to strengthen our relationships with our neighbours and take the opportunity to reach out to those around us who may be lonely and in doing so building a more neighbourly community.  We have so much to share including memories of the past and our vision for the future of our city.  It is our communities and neighbours who make Dublin the great place it is,” said the Lord Mayor.

Refreshments will be served on the night and entertainment will consist of singing, drama and poetry recitation.

Ends.
