Dublin City Council wishes to advise motorists that it is proposed to bring the Samuel Beckett Bridge through the Eastlink Toll Bridge today during high tide between 2.00pm to 4.00pm, if wind speed and weather conditions are favourable.
In this event, the Eastlink Toll Bridge will close to traffic with effect from 2.00pm today to facilitate the passage of Beckett Bridge. The HGV Cordon will accordingly be lifted from 1.00pm today to enable Hauliers affected by the Eastlink Bridge lift to take alternative routes into and out of the City.
The City Council is advising motorists travelling from North to South in the City to cross the Liffey at Butt Bridge and Memorial Bridge and to use Pearse Street (Southside) and Amiens Street (Northside) for access.
Motorists travelling from the South are requested to avoid the usual turn onto Strand Road at the Merrion Gates during this time. News bulletins will be updated between now and the planned Bridge lift. Motorists are requested to observe the Vehicle Messaging Signage and to listen to updated radio bulletins.
The City Council wishes to convey its thanks to the Gardai and the Dublin Port Authority for their assistance in enabling the Bridge lift to take place and regret any inconvenience caused, particularly to Port traffic.
