Art Exhibition showcases local talent

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Emer Costello will open an Art Exhibition in Northside Shopping Centre, Coolock, Dublin 5 on Thursday 9th July 2009 at 12pm.

The exhibition, organised by Dublin City Council, includes paintings from The Coolock Library Art Group, St. Brendan’s Active Retirement Art Group and St. Lukes Art Club and are on display from 9th to 11th July from 12pm to 6pm. 

“I would like to congratulate everyone involved in this exhibition, their time, commitment and skill is evident in the paintings and artwork they have created.  I am delighted that they have been given this opportunity to showcase their talent in such a prominent location in the heart of their community” said the Lord Mayor.

Notes to the Editor:

Art Exhibition will be held in the Northside Shopping Centre – Enter by Bunratty Road.  The Exhibition will be on display in the former “Price Less” shop on the ground floor.

Dublin City Council North Central Area Office established an Arts Steering Group to consider a one-year’s events plan for part of the North Central administrative Area.  The Steering Group includes representatives from Dublin City Council North Central Area Office, the NCA Arts Officer, Senior Librarian Coolock Library and NCA Senior Community Officer, as well as representatives from other agencies in the area i.e. Sphere 17, Darndale Belcamp Village Centre, Near90FM and Media Initiative Collective (MIC).
 
The Art Exhibition in Northside Shopping Centre on July 9th /10th/11th is one such event which has been planned under the North Central Area Local Arts Programme 2009.  Local art groups were approached by the Community Development Section to exhibit their work in a local venue.
The three groups – Coolock Library Art Group, St. Brendan’s Active Retirement Art Group and St. Luke’s Art Club – are delighted to be given the opportunity to participate in a local art exhibition.
