Lord Mayor lights up Clontarf

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Eibhlin Byrne will light up the Christmas tree in Clontarf on Tuesday 9th December 2008 at 6pm at the Pumping Station, Vernon Avenue, Clontarf, Dublin 3.

The Lord Mayor will be assisted by Ellen Keane, a young local paralympian athlete.  Ellen was the recipient of 5 Gold Medals in the 2007 South African World Championship Amputee Competition.  More recently, she competed in the paralympic Competition in Beijing, coming 6th in the Final of the breast- stroke, which puts her 6th in the World at 13 years old.

“I am especially honoured to be joined by Ellen for the tree-lighting ceremony.   Ellen’s achievements were a great source of pride for all of us in 2008.   Young people like her give us all great hope going into the future”, said the Lord Mayor.

We hope Public Representatives all members of the Local Community Businesses, Voluntary and Local Interest Groups will join with us today and we hope to make this a yearly event in the future.
