Councillor Eibhlin Byrne, Lord Mayor of Dublin, will officially open the Dublin Fire Brigade Museum, located at the Brigade Training Centre, O’Brien Institute, Marino, Dublin 3, on August 29th 2008 at 2.30pm.
“Founded in 1862, Dublin Fire Brigade has a long and distinguished history of service to the citizens and city of Dublin. Today’s opening of their museum is the culmination of many years work and reflects the history of this great organisation” said the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Eibhlin Byrne.
The museum will continue to develop and evolve over time, reflecting the ongoing interest in the heritage of Dublin and the Fire and Ambulance Service which serves its citizens every day.
Attending will be the Chief Fire Officer - Mr. Hugh O'Neill, Executive Manager - Mr. Gerry Geraghty, Asst. Chief Fire Officer (Training) - Mr. Brian Power and Brigade Training Officer - Mr. Terry Kearney.

The 150th anniversary of Dublin Fire Brigade will be celebrated during in 2012. The ambulance service provided by the Fire Brigade, covering the City and County of Dublin, was founded in 1898.
