Chilean naval ship visits Dublin in its maiden voyage

The Chilean Naval Ship"Almirante Condell" will be berthed at the Ocean Peer, Alexandra Basin between the 17th and 20th of September. It will be open to the public on Friday 19th of September between 10 and 16:00 hours.

This ship was handed over to the Chilean Navy the 28th May 2008 in Portsmouth Harbour. She is the former  HMS “Marlborough”, the fourth of the modern generation of Type 23 frigates, built by Swan Hunter.

The ship is named after Rear Admiral Carlos Condell, offspring of a Scottish merchant officer. This officer had a distinguished service acting as the Captain of a small wooden corvette during the war of the Pacific, at the end of the 19th century.

The ship is commanded by Captain Jorge Cruz.
