A new all-weather pitch, located in Ringsend Park, Dublin 4 will be officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Eibhlin Byrne, on Saturday 6th September at 12.00pm.
Funded by Dublin City Council and the Dublin Docklands Development Authority, this UEFA certified, floodlit, full size all-weather pitch is of the highest standard and services the communities of Ringsend and Irishtown.
This all-weather pitch is the final part of the 1.85 million euro redevelopment of Ringsend Park. This redevelopment has taken three years and now sees Ringsend Park as an example of best practice in the provision of modern parks and sports facilities in a city park. This redevelopment has also been a collaborative effort with support from local residents, community and sporting groups, Dublin City Council, An Garda Síochána and local public representatives. This redevelopment has included:
- New Playground
- New seven-a-side multi-use games area
- New five-a-side multi-sport pitch suitable for Soccer, Tennis and Basketball
- New UEFA certified, floodlit, full size all-weather pitch
These facilities are some of the many new state of the art parks and sports facilities, which have been provided in Dublin City in recent years. It shows Dublin City Councils continued commitment to the provision of high quality park, play and sports facilities in local areas.
