Fr Collins Park

Ireland's first wholly sustainable park opened at 11am on Wednesday 27th May. The park is located in the heart of the 'North Fringe' - the new communities of Clongriffin and Belmayne. Lord Mayor Eibhlin Byrne opens the park in the presence of Archbishop Diarmuid Martin.
Located between the Hole in the Wall Road and the Mayne River in Donaghmede, the park extends to 26 hectares and was named after a much respected local parish priest who was instrumental in its original acquisition for development as a public park.

Fr. Collins Park wins “Sustainability Award” at the Irish Concrete Society Awards

The 28th Awards evening for the Irish Concrete Awards recognised excellence in design, construction and the use of concrete in a sustainable context was held last month.  Over twenty projects were entered and our very own Fr. Collins Park, Donaghmede, won the “Sustainability Award”.  Consisting of shot-blast concrete paths and walkways the park also has a concrete skateboard park which is not only very well planned and detailed but is also very well used.  Local Clongriffin resident Sean Keogh said of the win, “To all DCC staff involved in the park… well done.  It’s great to see Fr. Collins Park getting this kind of recognition”.
