 Dublin City Council Supported Events  

A photo of a dancer at a Dublin City Council eventDublin City Council aims to animate the public domain by encouraging and introducing more events and activities for all ages in city centre public spaces. Anyone who plans to hold an event in a public space under the jurisdiction of Dublin City Council should make contact  with the Events Unit as early as possible.  Consultation with the Events Unit should take place for events taking place in private grounds or in other authority areas that will impact on the city e.g. through increased traffic/ crowds or litter. 

 

Summer in Dublin presented by Dublin City Council

Dublin City Council is delighted to present a diverse programme of outdoor events this Summer. The event programme is a collaboration between Dublin City Council and the many organisers of events who share the Council’s ambition to animate public space in the city for the enjoyment of everyone. For events happening in our libraries please click here

Contemporary Music Festival
A Music Trail consisting of sound installations connecting the Old City, Medieval and Viking Dublin – Heritage Week

September

Guided walks:

Sunday 12th September:  Guided hike with DMP volunteer rangers across Dublin Mountains. Meet at Sandyford Luas Dublin Mountaineer bus stop at 12.15pm. Bus departs at 12.30pm. This is a 10km hike, 3 and a half hours hike. Booking is essential! Email info@dublinmountains.ie to book your place. Please bring good walking boots, rain gear, lunch and water. Cost is €5 for the bus.

Forestry Family Fun Day - Sunday 19th September 2010: 12-4pm, Tibradden Forest. 
A range of fun activities in the forest for all the family. Click here for full details

Liffey Swim

11th September
Once again swimmers are challenged with the competition and excitement of swimming throughout the heart of one of Europe’s greatest cities. Over 400 swimmers will compete in the 2010 Liffey swim – swimming 1800m.

Absoute Dublin Fringe Festival
Sunday 11th – Sunday 26th September,
For 2 weeks Dublin will be captivated by theatre, dance visual art in its public spaces with performances from Ireland across the globe.

Phizzfest 

9th – 12th September 2010
Phibsborough Community Arts Festival.  Phizzfest is a fantastic opportunity to promote the area, people and talents through the celebration of the creative arts. The programme will feature musicians, The Clé Club, children’s activities and workshops, plays and films. There will be walking tours, literary talks, yoga, art trails and a community fun day.  Events will include competitions

Friday September 24th
A night of entertainment, discovery and adventure.

Markets

  • Smithfield Market is located at the Haymarket end of Smithfield near the luas stop. The market is on every Friday 11.00am – 6.00pm and some produce available are nuts, crepes, spicy food, and jewellery.   • Every weekend, there is a diverse an interesting array of art on display and for sale at Merrion Square
  • Every Thursday – Coppinger Row Market – a Bord Bia awarded Code of Good Practice for Farmer’s Market offers you a unique setting for shopping and lunch beside Powerscourt Centre

All of the above events are supported or organised by Dublin City Council. The outdoor events are presented FREE to the public.
