Dublin City Public Libraries’ Career Direction and Development Programme, now in its third year, is a key Dublin City Council employment support initiative, designed as a response to the vastly changed Irish employment and careers landscape. Through a range of events, including lectures, workshops, information stands, helpdesks, displays and user education programmes, it aims to provide concentrated support to the city’s residents, workers and visitors in sourcing employment opportunities, developing job-hunting skills, and adapting to career changes in the current dynamic environment.

Match Your Skills to Your Career Choice and Job

Career Coach Jane Downes will provide useful tips on how to be Career Smart when job hunting on Tuesday, 19th June at 1.00pm at the Business Information Centre. This interactive workshop will look at how Career Intelligent are you and match these skills to a career choice and job in the jobs market today. How can you be more proactive in your job search while maximising your chances of finding employment or changing careers.

All are welcome to come along to this free careers workshop, which is an invaluable opportunity to assist you find the ideal job.  However, due to popular demand, booking is recommended, either in person at the Business Information Centre, by telephoning  (01) 873 3996 or emailing businesslibrary@dublincity.ie.                                                       

Jane Downes is one of Irelands best known Career Coaches and author of The Career Book – Help for the Restless Realist.  She owns Clearview Coaching Group a Career Coaching and Training business which she established in 2004 following an extensive career working in the area of recruitment and HR consulting. In addition, Jane regularly writes for the National Press and has been invited to speak on national radio and TV on subjects relating to the careers field. Jane held the position of weekly Career Expert in 2010 on TV3's The Morning Show and in the past has held the position of Interview Expert for Irish Job/Jobs.ie.  She currently holds the position of weekly Career Doctor for the Metro Herald.  In January Jane was invited to head up the seminars section of Ireland’s Largest Career & Jobs Expo Choices 2011 and received strong feedback on the success of her workshops.
Jane holds a First Class Honours Social Science Degree and FÁS approved training qualification and is a Qualified Life & Business Coach, Career Coach Assessor and Emotional Intelligence Assessor (EQi).
