Broadband and wireless access is available at all branches of Dublin City Public Libraries.
The term wireless refers to technology that enables two or more computers to communicate without network cabling (sometimes called wireless LANS). Most new laptops are wireless enabled, that is with wireless cards built-in. If you are unsure check with your supplier.
If your laptop does not have a wireless card you can purchase one from any computer accessories retailer.
How do I check if my laptop has an internal wireless card?
Left click on the My Computer icon on the desktop and select manage as shown below:

Computer Management screen will pop up. Click on device manager on the left hand side.


On the right-hand side of the window double click Network adapters.

This selection will display card types installed on your machine. In the example above we have highlighted the wireless card.
How can I use the Internet through Internet Explorer?
To begin open a browser window.
From the Tools menu select Internet Options.

Select the Connections tab and click the LAN Settings button.

Tick the box beside Automatically detect settings

Click OK to accept the changes. Your Internet access is set up.
