Initiated and led by the city library service, Dublin has submitted an application for designation as a UNESCO City of Literature, part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

As part of the City Council's commitment to making our city accessible for all citizens, Dublin City Public Libraries announce the commencement of access works at the 3 branch libraries in November / December 2009.
The Moldovan Community in Ireland has donated dozens of titles to the World Books collection in the Central Library. The collection consists of fiction and nonfiction titles for both children and adults.
Dublin City Archives is delighted to announce that 28 maps from the Wide Street Commission Collection have been conserved in 2009 and can now be accessed by members of the public in the Dublin City Library and Archive reading room.
