When you apply for a Driving Licence or Learner Driving Permit, you must state what type of vehicles you wish to drive. Each vehicle is matched by a letter, as shown below.

Category A Restriction
A category A Learner Permit is restricted to motorcycles with less than 25KW engine power. This restriction will continue to apply for two years after you get your full Category A licence.
Theory Test Categories
The theory test categories are split into AM, BW, C and D. A person applying for a theory test must indicate which categories they want to sit the theory test for.
