Temporary Road Closures

O'Connell Street closure for Easter Parade 2010

The Council is considering authorising the temporary closure of O’Connell Street, between its junctions with O‘Connell Bridge and Parnell Square, from 5am to 3pm on Sunday 4th April 2010, subject to the Office Of Public Works with any instruction given in relation to this closure by the Director of Traffic or his Agents.

The temporary road closure is to facilitate official state commemoration of 1916 rising.

During the period of closure, the following diversion routes will apply:

  • Traffic on Bachelors Walk and O’Connell Bridge wishing to access Parnell Street will be diverted via Eden Quay - Beresford Place – Gardiner Street Lower and Parnell Street
  • Traffic on Parnell Square East wishing to access D’Olier Street will be diverted via Parnell Street – Marlborough Street – Sean MacDermott Street Upper – Gardiner Street Lower – Beresford Place – Memorial Road – Georges Quay – Burgh Quay
  • Traffic on Sean MacDermont Street Upper wishing to access D’Olier Street via Cathal Brugha Street and O’connell Street will be diverted via Marlborough Street, Eden Quay, Beresford Place, Memorial Road, Georges Quay and Burgh Quay
  • No access permitted to car parks

Pedestrian, local and LUAS access must be maintained at all times.

The Council is considering authorising temporary closure to traffic along the following roads during the periods as stated:

Fun Fair - Merrion Square West

  • 8 pm on Tuesday 9th March to 10 pm on Friday 19th March 2010 - Merrion Square West


Treasure Hunt – Castle Street- Saturday 13th March

  • Saturday 13th March 2010 - 9am to 5pm Castle Street

 

Big Day Out – Merrion Square - Sunday 15th March

  • Saturday March 13th from 9pm to Sunday March 14th at 10pm - Merrion Square South, Merrion Street Upper
  • Sunday March 14th from 5am to 10pm hrs - Merrion Square East, Merrion Square West, Mount Street Upper (to Junction James Street East), Fitzwilliam Street Lower.
     

Festival Parade – Wednesday 17th March

Any person may lodge an objection, in writing, to Dublin City Council, Roads & Traffic Department Block 2, Floor 4, Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8. The closing time and date for receipt of objections is 12:00 midday on Wednesday 24th February 2009. Written objections can be faxed to (01) 222 2813.

 

Magennis Place, Dublin 2

The Council is considering authorising the temporary closure of Magennis Place, D2 - from its junction with Pearse Street to Magennis Square from 5th – 30th April 2010  (entire period) subject to DCC (Road maintenance), complying with any instruction given in relation to this closure by the Director of Traffic or his Agents.

The road closure is necessary to facilitate repairs to road surface where it has been affected by previous excavation for utility installation.

Traffic Management Plan

  • Traffic travelling northbound on Magennis Place will be diverted via Pearse Street, Mark Street, and Townsend Street onto Magennis Square and Magennis Place.

 

Full pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

A preliminary advertisement inviting objections by 17:00 hours on Tuesday 2nd March 2010 was published in the Irish Times on Tuesday 23rd February 2010.

James Walk Dublin 8,– From its junction with South Circular Road to Rialto Street on 20th March 2010 (entire period)

The closure is to facilitate the repair of a fault on a High Voltage cable.

Traffic Management Plan

James’s Walk will be closed from the South Circular Road to Rialto Street.

East bound traffic on the South Circular Road seeking to enter James’s Walk will continue south on the SCR and be diverted north onto Rialto Street.

There will be no through road from the SCR onto James’s Walk.

Westbound traffic on James’s Walk seeking to enter the SCR will be diverted south onto Rialto Street and west onto the SCR.

Local access will be provided to traffic and pedestrians.
