Dublin City Council Arts Office is delighted to present this year’s Festival Training Programme. Now in its second year, this training programme is designed to support both Youth and Community based festivals (and event organisers) in the city’s neighbourhoods. The programme, developed with community arts workers, youth workers and leaders in mind, offers both practical and artistic workshops and training sessions that will take place throughout the city in various venues from mid November to mid December.
Macnas, Buí Bolg, Artastic and MakeupFablicious will be delivering the artistic sessions, and as some of Ireland’s foremost street theatre, special effects and spectacle experts, we are delighted to have them on board again this year. National resource agencies (AOIFE, NYCI and The Arts Council) will be facilitating a number of the practical sessions focussing on key issues such as child protection awareness, fundraising in the current climate, maximising media opportunities and health and safety.
In addition, and new to this year’s programme will be the hosting of a Conversation Circle - an evening where interested people can sit down together among festival organisers, ask questions, share learning, hear success stories or simply to sit back and listen! Some of the festivals represented on the night will include the success story that is Phizzfest, GAZE Dublin’s International LGBT Film Festival and Otherworld, Ballymun Halloween Festival.
Feel free to attend one, several or all of the sessions. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come basis. We encourage you to nominate a few people from your group/festival committee to attend so that learning can be shared and sustained. We ask you to please complete and return the attached booking form to us. We hope you will find this year’s programme informative and engaging and we look forward to meeting you all over the next few weeks.
