Heirlooms and Hand Me Downs
Heirlooms & Hand-me-downs is the final part of a public art commission undertaken by Chris Reid. The book is part of a larger DCC Public Art commission where the stories of residents within the Dublin 8 area were recorded, and immortalized in the form of 20 heritage plaques, cast in bronze and affixed to the external walls of the flat complex as a lasting legacy to the lives and stories of all the people who have lived there. The beautiful book is a history of the last one hundred years as told through the memories of people who live or have lived in a small corner of the Liberties in Dublin 8.

Public Art Project – O’Connell Street
Me Jewel and Darlin’ - Sean Lynch completes his commission on O’Connell Street with the final temporary display of Me Jewel and Darlin’. Located on the central axis of the city’s main thoroughfare, the display case suggests a loose alternative to the line of official monuments (Parnell, Spire, Larkin, O’Connell, etc.) that appear there. Instead of commemorating historical achievements or momentous occasions, Me Jewel & Darlin’ focuses on incidental occurrences and artistic practices that engage Dublin as a source and subject. The final display is of a BMW Series 3, Registration 92 D 38478, tailing (section). For further information see www.mejewelanddarlin.com
