Procedure for obtaining a permit
All commercial uses in Parks and Public Open Spaces such as filming, photography and photocalls require a permit. Other events, such as fashion-shoots and product launches, are organised by the Events Unit(events@dublincity.ie) and require a minimum of 15 working days notice.
To obtain a permit, a brief description of the nature of the filming/photography (i.e. the date, time, expected duration of filming, and proof of Third Party Liability Insurance up to €6.4 million, indemnifying Dublin City Council) should be faxed to 01-2226688 or e-mailed to the following:
A minimum of 3 days notice is required except in exceptional circumstances. All filming/photography involving minors in Parks, Public Open Spaces and playgrounds/play areas requires prior permission by parents or guardians.
Fee
The first hour of photocalls is charged at €150.00 plus 23% VAT and subsequent hours are charged at €100.00 plus 23% VAT.
The first hour for commercial filming is charged at €200.00 plus 23% VAT and subsequent hours are charged at €100.00 plus VAT. A full days filming is charged at €1,000.00 plus VAT at 23%. Total inclusive of VAT for a full days filming is €1,230.00.

- student projects (with accreditation from college)
- public health awareness bulletins
- Dublin City or National tourism promotion
A permit is required with proof of Third Party Liability Insurance. Wedding photography is free and does not require an official permit but should be notified, in advance, to the park personnel in which the photography is to be carried out.
Note: Certain parks within the city boundary area are classified as National Parks (The Phoenix Park, St. Stephen's Green, Iveagh Gardens, Memorial Gardens, Garden of Remembrance) are not under the jurisdiction of Dublin City Council and are administered by Duchas, The Heritage Service of the Office of Public Works.
