Procedure for obtaining a permit
All commercial uses, i.e filming, photography, photocals, fashion-shoots, product launches, etc. in Parks and Public Open Spaces requires a permit.
To obtain a permit, a brief description of the nature of the filming/photography, the date, time, expected duration of filming and proof of Third Party Liability Insurance up to €6.4 million, indemnifying Dublin City Council, should be faxed to 01-2226688 or e-mailed to the following:
A minimum of 3 days notice is required except in exceptional circumstances. All filming/photography involving minors in Parks, Public Open Spaces and playgrounds/play areas requires prior permission by parents or guardians.
Fee
All commercial uses in Parks and public Open Spaces under the jurisdiction of Dublin City Council Parks & Landscape Services Division is subject to a minimum fee of €100 per hour or part thereof or €1,000 per day. A permit is required with proof of Third Party Liability Insurance.
Fee Exemptions
- Registered charities
- student projects (with accredition from college)
- public health awareness bulletins
- Dublin City or National tourism promotion
A permit is required with proof of Third Party Liability Insurance. Wedding photography is free and does not require an official permit but should be notified, in advance, to the park personnel in which the photography is to be carried out.
Note: Certain parks within the city boundary area are classified as National Parks (The Phoenix Park, St. Stephen's Green, Iveagh Gardens, Memorial Gardens, Garden of Remembrance) are not under the jurisdiction of Dublin City Council and are administered by Duchas, The Heritage Service of the Office of Public Works.
