Management and Maintenance in Parks

The Parks and Landscape Services Division is charged with the ongoing management and maintenance of Dublin's public landscape, extending from the historic squares of the inner city to the newer suburban parks on the city perimeter. Our outdoor staff carry out daily and seasonal maintenance operations and this is supplemented with maintenance works carried out on a contract basis. Civic decorations, which include street planters and Christmas tree displays, are also prepared by Division staff.

Recent developments in staff management include the introduction of a new performance management and development system (PMDS) with the objective of managing performance, improving service, getting the best use of our resources and realizing the full potential of our staff. The Division also runs a yearly staff awards scheme acknowledging work attendance rates and long term service to the council.

Training and education is important with workshops and training conducted to ensure that staff have a greater level of understanding and practice of issues such as safer working practices, enhancing greater biodiversity and managing and maintaining parks in a more sustainable way.
