Originally a wasteland known as ‘Church Fields’ this residential square was constructed in 1851. The 1 hectare park, situated off Castlewood Avenue between Rathmines and Ranelagh, was privately owned until the mid 1970's when it was acquired by the Corporation for development as a local park.
Proposed Upgrading of Belgrave Square Park Childrens Playground
Following consultation with local school children the tender for the playground upgrading has been completed and the Children’s Playground Company, based in Naas, Co. Kildare, has been appointed to undertake the project. A plan and perspective of the winning design can been seen by clicking here.
It is anticipated that works will commence on site by the end of November and the playground will be completed within 6 to 8 weeks thereafter.
To facilitate the project to be undertaken in a safe manner, and in the interest of public safety, the park may have to be closed at certain times during installation. This Division apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate the publics co-operation during the construction and installation phase of the project.
