About this event:

The First Friday Film Club takes place on the first Friday of every month. The current programme runs from February to July 2009, at 10.30am in Rathmines Library. Admission free!

Friday 6th February - Jigs and Reels
Two films from the Irish Fim Archive: Fleá Ceoil (1967)  and O'Donoghue's Opera (1965) featuring Ronnie Drew and other members of the Dubliners, with an introduction by Sé Merry Doyle. Live performances by Ciarán Kenny and Bob Staines of Dublin City Workingman's Band.

Friday March 6th - Walk the Line
Life and Music of the legendary musician and performer Johnny Cash.
Film intermission with live performance by singer / song writer Lynda Lucas.

Friday April 3rd - Bacon's Arena
Documentary on the artist Francis Bacon with introduction by Jessica O'Donnell, Head of Collections of The Hugh Lane Gallery. Includes an exhibition by Artist Jean Pollier and John McCann

Friday May 1st - GAA Shorts and Rooney
GAA films from the Irish Film Archive - 125th centenary year. Photographic exhibition and talk by Diarmaid Ó Seoighdha, former All-Ireland Football player. Includes screening of Rooney (1958).

Friday June 5th - Under the Tuscan Sun
Summer time feel good film!
The acclaimed film adaptation of the book of the same title by Frances Mayes

Friday July 3rd - The Tibetans. A Life In Exile
Renowned documentary on the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan exiled community.
Filmed in the colourful town of Dharamsala in the stunning Indian Himalayas.
