Support for Adult Literacy Tutors

Going back to education as an adult isn’t easy and for those with reading and writing difficulties the stigma can prove daunting and discouraging. Trained literacy tutors play a key role in helping adults with reading and writing difficulties, and in recognition of this Dublin City Central library has compiled a resource bank of publications to support their professional development.

The publications include a range of recommended reading material related to adult literacy theory and practice, and are aimed at those who work in the adult literacy sector, and in particular those completing the NALA / Waterford Institute of Technology’s distance education programme.

The National Adult Literacy Agency and Dublin City’s Central Library are cooperating on promoting this reading material for adult literacy practitioners. For user convenience the resource includes both a lending and a reference copy for consultation in the library. Further information from:
