Why was it decided to temporarily close Ballyfermot Library?

The library was closed to undertake roof replacement works and associated refurbishment.

How are the works being funded?

The works are being grant aided by the Department of Environment Heritage and Local Government with additional funding for fit-out from Dublin City Council.

I’m a Ballyfermot Library user.  Where else can I use library services during the period of closure?

A temporary library facility is operating at the Civic Centre Ballyfermot during the period of closure, Library staff continue to provide an efficient and wide ranging service to the local community and to all other clients we serve.

What is the plan for Ballyfermot Library stock?

Stock from Ballyfermot Library not currently in use in the temporary library has been carefully packed and stored.

Why was Ballyfermot Civic Centre chosen as the temporary library?

Dublin City Council chose to locate the temporary facility in the Civic Centre on the basis that it was the most suitable unit available in the vicinity for short term use.

When will Ballyfermot reopen?

The newly refurbished Ballyfermot Library will open in 2011.
