East Link Toll Bridge Rebate Scheme

Due to a systems change, all hauliers claiming under the Scheme should contact their Toll company regarding the breakdown information.

If you drive a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) and you have paid a toll at the East Link Toll Bridge, you can apply for a refund under the following circumstances:

  • Your HGV has 5+ axles
  • You used the East Link Toll Bridge when HGVs are not permitted to enter the city centre area

Apply for a refund

To apply for a refund, follow these steps:

Step 1: Register for the East Link Toll Rebate Scheme with Dublin City Council  


Step 2: Complete a Claim form 

For Claims before 1st January 2012:

From 1st January 2010, the VAT rate reduced 0.5% to 21%. Dublin City Council will refund the full toll charge of €5.15 less 21% V.A.T which will be €4.26 for each 5+ axle vehicle crossing the East Link Bridge between 7am to 7pm, Monday to Sunday inclusive. This should be reflected in any claim from 1 January, 2010 (see claimant form from 1st January 2010).

To implement this new practice, details of claims (i.e. vehicle registration numbers, tag numbers, dates and times of crossings) may be furnished to East - Link Ltd. for verification.

For Claims from 1st January 2012:

From 1st January 2012, the VAT rate increased 2.0% to 23% and the East Link Bridge Toll increased by 5c. Dublin City Council will refund the full toll charge of €5.20 less 23% V.A.T which will be €4.23 for each 5+ axle vehicle crossing the East Link Bridge between 7am to 7pm, Monday to Sunday inclusive. This should be reflected in any claim from 1 January, 2012 (see claimant form from 1st January 2012).

To implement this new practice, details of claims (i.e. vehicle registration numbers, tag numbers, dates and times of crossings) may be furnished to East - Link Ltd. for verification.

Step 3:Please ensure that you submit the following information along with your Registration form and Claim form

  • Official Invoices/Statements from Toll company
  • Copies of relevant receipts from Toll company
  • Up-to-date Tax Clearance Certificate/C2 Form
  • Up-to-date detailed breakdown from Toll company of all journeys for which refunds are claimed including vehicle registration number, tag number, make/model of vehicle, number of axles on the vehicle and date and time of journey


When approved, you will receive your claim by electronic bank transfer within one month of your claim being submitted.


Please note: From December 1st 2009 refunds will only be made on the previous two months’ charges.

For example, to apply for a refund on toll charges for October and November 2009, you must submit an application in December 2009.


IMPORTANT NOTICE: As stated in the terms and conditions of the East Link rebate scheme; 'The claimant must be in full compliance with the HGV Management Strategy' therefore any haulier in receipt of East Link refunds and is found to be in breach of the HGV Management Strategy will immediately be removed from the rebate scheme.
