Apply for a HGV permit to enter Dublin City

Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) with 5+ axles are not permitted to enter a restricted area of Dublin City between 07.00 – 19.00

You can apply for a permit to enter this restricted area for 2 reasons:

  • To deliver or collect goods from a premises or construction site you can apply for a Load/Unload Permit.
  • To travel through the restricted area when you are not permitted to use the Port Tunnel (e.g. over-height, wide-load or restricted goods), you can apply for a Transit Permit.

Load/Unload permit

If you need to deliver to or collect from a premises or a construction site within the restricted area of Dublin city, you can apply for a Load/Unload permit.  This permit allows you to travel in the restricted area during restricted hours using a HGV with 5+ axles.

Load/unload permits can only be issued against premises that have been registered with Dublin City Council.

Daily permits cost €10.00 each (one permit allows up to 5 deliveries/collections).
