Description:
The scheme for the Mount Merrion Avenue QBC will achieve bus priority along the route by providing bus lanes approaching junctions. This will allow buses to bypass current traffic queues. Cycle lanes will be provided along the length of the corridor and the project includes improvements at all junctions, including facilities for the Mobility Impaired and Disabled (MID), additional signalised pedestrian crossings, bus stop upgrades to QBC standard and where necessary the provision of measures required to improve safety.
Public Consultation Procedure:
Public consultation period from 13th April - 13th May 2004. Report presented to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council Dundrum Area Committee 24th May 2004 and Dun Laoghaire Area Committee 2nd June 2004.
Present Position :
Construction commenced Monday November 5th 2007. The main construction works were completed in February 2009. A Road Safety Audit is now being finalised for the scheme. It is anticipated that the scheme will be commissioned in the Summer 2009.
