Naas Road QBC - Phase IV - Red Cow to Long Mile Road

Phases I to III of the Naas Road QBC were opened in September 2007 and now provide continuous bus priority along the N7 from the Kingswood Interchange to the M50, and high levels of bus priority between the N7 and Dublin City Centre via Inchicore and the Quays.

The Quality Bus Network Project Office, in partnership with South Dublin County Council and Dublin City Council, has prepared the preliminary design for the Naas Road Quality Bus Corridor (QBC) from the Red Cow to Longmile Road.  The scheme will provide the maximum bus priority along the route and involve revising the road markings of the current carriageway to accommodate bus lanes in both the inbound (towards City Centre) and outbound (towards Naas) as well as the construction of off-road cycling facilities along the corridor and will include safety improvements at junctions, including facilities for the Mobility Impaired and Disabled (MID).

Public Exhibition Details

The scheme was approved by South Dublin County Council at it’s meeting on 12th July 2004 following a period of public consultation between 25th March 2004 and 14th May 2004, in accordance with the procedures set out in Part 8, Planning And Development Regulations 2001. However it was agreed that the implementation of Phase 4 of the scheme (i.e. the section between M50 and Long Mile Road) would be deferred until substantial completion of the M50 works.

Current status

Construction of the scheme is complete which includes the provision of bus lanes between the M50 and Longmile Road.

Please see the drawings below for detailed layouts of the proposed bus-lanes.
