Dublin Regional Draft Air Quality Management Plan 2008-2012.

Dublin City Council, Dún Laoghaire – Rathdown County Council, South Dublin County Council, and Fingal County Council have jointly made a ‘Dublin Regional Draft Air Quality Management Plan 2008-2012 which will replace the ‘Dublin Regional Air Quality Management Plan 1999’.

It was considered by the relevant Strategic Policy Committees of the four Local Authorities and was also considered at the relevant monthly Council Meetings of the four Local Authorities and it was agreed that the Statutory Public Consultation Process be initiated on a Regional basis. Following this Consultation Process, the Draft Plan will again be considered by the relevant Strategic Policy Committees and the relevant Councils of the four Local Authorities. The adoption of the Air Quality Management Plan 2008-2012 is a Reserved Function.

The main strategies of the plan are to: -

  • Improve coordination of efforts and build on the good work done to date.
  • Mainstream air quality management into all major policy areas.
  • Strengthen evidence based decision making by improving how we share information on air quality.
  • Lead by example with measures related to local authority activities that will reduce emissions.
  • Identify and prioritise tackling main potential threats to air quality.
  • Provide clear time-bound criteria for the achievement of objectives.
  • The Air Quality Management Plan will be for a 4-year period.
