There are fifty two democratically elected public representatives on the Council. The role of these Councillors is to lay down the policy framework within which the city operates. They are elected for a five-year term at Local Elections. The last local elections were in 2009.
Councillor Bill Tormey was first elected to the City Council in July 2004; Councillor John Redmond was first elected in June 2009; Councillor Paul McAuliffe was first elected in June 2009; Councillors Anthony Connaghan & Steve Wrenn were co-opted onto the City Council in March 2011.
The next Local Elections will take place in 2014. This committee discusses issues of interest and relevance to people who live in this area.
