Are you 18-30 and interested in experiencing something new?

Do you want to make a difference and volunteer in another country?
Come along to an info session on the European Voluntary Service J

Thurs 25th April, 6 – 8pm, Reco

All young people 18 – 30 welcome

During this session, we will:

  • Tell you all about the European Voluntary Service
  • Explain how to apply for an EVS project yourself
  • Have some EVS participants sharing their experiences

What is EVS?

Through the European Commission, EVS provides funding for young people to volunteer in another country for between two and 12 months. The funding covers 90% of return travel costs as well as accommodation and food. The volunteer also receives a small monthly allowance. The variety of EVS projects is enormous, including projects focusing on the environment, arts, culture, health, youth and sport.

For more information, contact: Laurence on 01 8667600,

The 2011 Tidy Towns Competition results were announced on Monday 5th September in the Helix. The adjudicator's report on Finglas Village included the following comments:

"The village centre is delightful. The planting and the landscaping, the sculpture, the finger signposting, the lanterns, railings, clock tower, bicycle bars and the buzz of bodies all create a healthy vibrant atmosphere. Your aspiration to improve the appearance of the town in order to maintain public confidence is commendable. The preservation of the cemetery and the ruin is another gem. The work done on the grounds of the Church of St. Canice is beautiful in itself but also adorns the appearance of the fine edifice. The same applies to the McKee memorial, delightful. The experience of the adjudicator was that litter is not a problem around the village centre. Finglas, the rejuvenated village, has fortunately retained many terraces of cottages in the vicinity of the village centre that create one of the charming features of the village.
