RAPID (Revitalising Areas by Planning, Investment and Development) invests the best possible resources into disadvantaged areas by introducing priority services and funding into particular areas.

    Canal RAPID news

    Our RAPID Areas:

    • Bluebell
    • Inchicore
    • Kilmainham
    • Rialto

Area Implementation Team (AIT) develop and deliver the local RAPID plan for that area.

The AIT brings local Statutory Agencies, local residents, voluntary groups and organisations together to identify needs and draw up the local RAPID plan.

    AIT have been working to:

    • Learn from experience to evaluate what we have done so far
    • Analyse area statistics and data to identify the most pressing needs and concerns
    • Liaise with the communities to determine what the local residents name as most important
    • Gather plans from Statutory Agencies and Service Providers for our area

    The National Approach

The new RAPID plans will focus on seven themes with the relevant statutory agency leading progress in each theme. The first three themes agreed were:

    • Health – improving health services and facilities
    • Community Safety – reducing anti-social behaviour and improving community safety
    • Family Support – putting resources into helping families

Two more themes were recently agreed:

    • Physical Environment
    • Education

    Examples of Actions

    • More Garda presence in response to a concern around safety
    • Funding a new playground or upgraded community facilities

More examples of ways in which RAPID has made a positive difference -

    • Lighting and CCTV at Goldstone Court
    • Play surface at Youth Centre Dolphin Park
    • Integrated community facility in Bluebell
