Chapelizod Village Improvement Scheme
Chapelizod Village has seen many changes over the last year as works on the Village Improvement Scheme got underway. These works enhance the whole area and bring vast improvements for local people and pedestrians in the village.
The roadway and pathways have been upgraded in the village square area with high quality granite paving. A public space has also been created in the form of a raised platform area which will be of great benefit to the local community. Traffic calming measures are in place with new ramps located throughout the area and structured parking is provided in the village square. New public lighting and planting also enhances this characteristic village.
These works have taken place in consultation with local residents and the City Council would like to thank everyone for their input, support and understanding while these works were being carried out.
The following improvement works have already been carried out in Chapelizod:
1. Drainage Works
Flooding and drainage issues on Martins Row have been a cause of major concern to residents living on Martins Row. Localised flooding occurs on a regular basis after heavy rainfall with water being washed up onto footpaths and onto the front of houses and of most concern causing flooding to houses. The Drainage Department are to commence work on laying new mains where none exist at present and to repair existing blocked or collapsed sewers.
Work will commence this month in Maiden Row and in the Square and take 8 weeks to complete. Work will resume mid June to mid August on providing new drainage pipes and gullies along Martins Row. This however will require a Full Road Closure during this period to enable the works to be carried out in safety.
Other works currently on our agenda:
