Lord Mayor’s Commission on Employment Meeting : 4th November, 2009. Powerpoint Presentation by Tony Tyrrell, WRC Social & Economic Consultants
Towards an Employment and Skills Strategy for the Dublin Region
In the context of the Economic Development Plan for the Dublin City Region, the Dublin Employment Pact (DEP) was asked on behalf of the Dublin Regional Authority and the four local authority managers to facilitate the development of an Employment and Skills Strategy for the Dublin City Region. The DEP contracted WRC Social and Economic Consultants to assist it in this regard.
Work on the proposed strategy is at an advanced stage. A Working Draft was completed at the end of the October. It has been reviewed by Board members of the DEP and is currently being revised by the consultants with a view to the completion of a Final Draft Strategy Report by mid-November. The Strategy will be presented at a DEP-sponsored Conference (Employment and Unemployment: The Future of Work) that is scheduled to take place at the Royal Irish Academy on 27th November after which the final version of the strategy will be produced.
