Andrea Hayes to MC the annual Smithfield Christmas Concert

Dublin City Council’s annual Smithfield Christmas Concert kicks off in Smithfield Plaza, Dublin 7, on Thursday 26th November at 5.30pm, with a jam packed programme of popular artists and entertainment for all the family. MC on the night is TV3’s Andrea Hayes and the event is free to attend.

Local school girls from Stanhope Street Secondary School Choir will take to the stage at 5.30pm followed by upcoming Dublin band Geddes who will perform some acoustic sets. You’re Never Gonna Walk Away from The Original Rudeboys as the Dublin band performs many of their chart topping songs. An tÁrdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh will switch on the lights of the Smithfield Christmas Tree at 7.25pm before Dublin’s legendary singer/songwriter Paddy Casey wraps up the music entertainment for the evening.

An tÁrdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh commented on the event “I am delighted to light up the fabulous Christmas tree here in Smithfield this evening to set the scene for the annual Christmas Concert. This year’s concert promises to be bigger and better than ever before with a wonderful line-up of artists. I congratulate Dublin City Council for organising this event and for their hard work throughout the year in keeping Smithfield looking at its best. Tréaslaím leo siúd ar fad a chabhraigh chun an ócáid sona seo a eagrú.”

Santa and “Scruffy” the real live reindeer, all the way from the North Pole, will also be paying a special visit to all the boys and girls on the evening.  There will be lots of strolling Christmas Characters mingling with the large crowd that is expected.
