The Programme runs from 19th – 24th October with a wide range of events and activities organised to promote community safety during the week. Safety Talks by An Garda Siochána with local schools and senior citizens will take place . The launch of a new Text Alert System for senior citizens will be discussed and football and other games are planned in the local parks.  Ballymun Garda Station will open its door to the public and a 5k walk, jog, or run event will take place in Poppintree Park at the end of the week.

'I'm delighted to be opening Safer Ballymun week on behalf of the Lord Mayor in my local community. We are approaching what can be a very testing time for the residents, Dublin City Council and the Gardai in the Halloween period. We have seen a huge reduction in anti social behaviour in the last few years as all stakeholders have engaged with the community to make Ballymun a safer place for us all to live' said Councillor Noeleen O’Reilly.

Assistant Garda Commissioner John Twomey said “Safer Ballymun represents a collaborative partnership where through active participation and mutual respect, we can all work together to ensure that we achieve our common objectives and ensure that working together we all provide a better service to our community; a safe society, and a safer community for everybody”

The programme of events is available at http://bit.ly/SaferBallymun and we are using #SaferBallymun on social media to promote this event.

Let’s make Ballymun a better place to live, work and visit.
