Bealtaine Festival ‘Over 55’s Open Day’ at the ILAC Centre Library

Dublin City Council’s Central Area office is organising an ‘Over 55’s Open Day’ in the Central Library ILAC Centre on Thursday 19th May 2016 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. during this year’s Bealtaine Festival as part of its Age Friendly Strategy. This popular event saw over 2,000 people taking part in 2015.

The focus is on the positive side of aging and on providing opportunities for older people to engage fully in their communities whether through participating in activities, availing of services or through volunteering for charity work. Twelve organisations have come together to provide information on a range of activities and services suitable for older people. Participants can try ‘Singing your cares away’ (prebooking required at ILAC Library), experience a session of ‘Balance and Mindfulness’ or even undergo a free ‘NCT’ Health Check.

An tArdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh will drop into the event and commented, “Cuirim fáilte Uí Cheallaigh romhaibh chuig an lá mór oscailte sa Lár Leabharlann. I encourage everyone to come along to the Central Library for the Over 55’s Open Day. Dublin is an age friendly city and I hope everyone attending gets some interesting ideas on how to continue to enjoy life to the full and also to benefit from the services available to older persons in the city.”
