Close shaves with frontline emergency staff #MoBros

Movember – Celebrate with Frontline Services Mo-Bro’s as they raise funds for charities

As part of the Movember campaign 2016, members of the emergency and voluntary services have come together to form the ‘Frontline Mo-bro’s’ team.  Crew members have donated their upper lips in the fight against cancer and to bring awareness and support to those suffering or dealing with mental health issues.

Everyone is invited to join in the celebrations with an Emergency Services Open Day in Phibsboro Fire Station, Phibsboro Road, Dublin 7 on Sunday 27th November, from 11.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m.

Services taking part include Dublin Fire Brigade, An Garda Síochána, Irish Coast Guard, Water Safety Ireland, Road Safety Authority, Civil Defence, Order of Malta and the Dublin Airport Fire and Police.  On the day we will have vehicles and equipment from all the services and you’ll be able to get up close and personal with the crews.

The Dublin Fire Brigade will be running a fire demonstration unit showing and teaching people how to put out the different types of fires and how to use extinguishers properly.  The Order of Malta alongside the DFB will be providing free Citizen CPR training and what to do in the event of someone choking.  The Gardai will have a Crime Prevention unit onsite to show you how to safeguard your house and property.  The Irish Coast Guard, alongside Water Safety Ireland, will be their giving practical advice for water safety and what to do in the event of an emergency on our waterways.  The Road Safety Authority will have their Rollover Demonstration unit on site showing just how important it is to wear your seatbelt.

Alongside all of the demonstrations will be vintage emergency service vehicles including two American Fire Engines on loan from a private collector.  We hope to have flyovers from both the Garda and Coast Guard Helicopters as well.  For all the Dub fans, Sam Maguire is joining us on the day to add support to the campaign.

Dublin Fire Brigade crews will be running a full tea/coffee/confectionary station on the day, with all money raised going to Movember and the Irish Cancer Society.  And if all those blue lights don’t keep the children happy we will have the 501st Emerald Garrison on site in full Star Wars costumes including Storm-troopers, Jedi and Dark Vader costumes, alongside Superheros Batman and Captain America.

To top it all off we will have a pop up Barber shop within the station manned by Sam’s Barbers Dublin, who will be giving all the Movember participants a full, free hot towel shave to end the campaign off in style!
