Nancy Matchton Owens reading More than Love

I’m Nancy Matchton Owens and this poem is called "More than Love" and it is a twenty-six years anniversary poem.

More than Love

Your blue eyes danced as you told your jokes and made me laugh
Even though you weren't in my plans, I found you.
Your voice like a lullaby soothed me
You and your lovely guitar, singing songs from Jim Croce and James Taylor
And we talked for hours while the car idled
You and your rocky mountain high
The sunny days we had in Spain, harmonising in the night
The beautiful boats bobbing in and out of sight
Oh the American girl and the older Irish lad
The red wine was intoxicating, the great times that we had
Tied the knot, though they said it wouldn't last
A gentleman's family, our easy life had passed
There's more than love here to keep us warm
And you're still my port in any storm
Holding my hand throughout the years
Come what may, laughter, tears
Such is life you never know
Let's try and keep our sail in tow
The sunny days we had in Spain, harmonising in the night
Beautiful boats in our view, bobbing in and out of sight
Oh the American girl and the older Irish lad
The red wine was intoxicating, the great times that we had.
