Discover Irelands Native Trees - Tetra Pak Tree Day 2015

An tArdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh will launch Tetra Pak Tree Day 2015, in St. Anne’s Park, Raheny, on Thursday, 8th October, 2015 at 10am.

Children from Our Lady of Consolation National School, Donnycarney will help the Lord Mayor plant a tree near the Red Stables in the park to celebrate the day.  Eanna Ní Lamhna, Public Relations Officer with the Tree Council of Ireland will be in attendance and will take the children on a walk along the Native Tree Trail in St. Anne’s Park.

“There are nine Native Tree Trails in Dublin City Council Parks. The Trails are a wonderful introduction to a selection of Ireland's native trees. What better place to start your discovery than here in our beautiful St. Anne’s Park. Tá Páirc San Anna ar ceann de na páirceanna is deise sa chathair agus is mór agam go bhfuilimid anseo inniu ag foghlaim níos-mo faoin dúlra mórthimpeall orainn. (St. Anne’s Park is one of the nicest parks in the city and I am delighted we are here today learning more about the nature that surrounds us)” said the Lord Mayor.

Sean Redmond, Executive Parks Superintendent, Dublin City Council said “Tree day is a fantastic opportunity for schoolchildren to get out into their local park to appreciate and learn about trees.”

The Parks and Landscape Services Division of Dublin City Council will facilitate local schools with guided walks in our parks on the day. Tetra Pak Tree Day 2015 is sponsored by Tetra Pak and supported by Dublin City Council and the Tree Council of Ireland.
