Dublin Fire Brigade welcomes HIQA Review

2nd December 2014, Dublin Fire Brigade has welcomed the publication of the review of pre-hospital emergency care services published today.

“The issues raised by the HIQA review are consistent with concerns previously raised by Dublin Fire Brigade in the best interests of patients and we are pleased to see them reflected in the main recommendations of the review. This review provides an opportunity to address these issues.
Dublin Fire Brigade is committed to implementing all the national recommendations of the review and in particular we welcome the call to publish a joint action plan and binding service level agreement with the National Ambulance Service and especially the recommendation that there should be a more integrated working relationship between the National Ambulance Service and Dublin Fire Brigade. As outlined in the report, we have found such engagement challenging in the past.
Dublin Fire Brigade and its personnel are, and always have been, fully committed to the delivery of a patient centred pre hospital emergency care service for the Dublin area.
The report has highlighted many areas of strength including our patient care, clinical governance and quality assurance and Dublin Fire Brigade will continue to build on these strengths and others while it works to implement the recommendations.”
