Dublin gets ready to Tango – Dublin International Tango Festival 18th – 21st August

The ninth Dublin International Argentine Tango Festival takes place between 18th and 21st August. The festival will celebrate one of the world’s great dances through live music and performances as well as cultural events and food tasting at venues around Dublin city.

Compradito Tango organised the tango festival. It is being run in conjunction with the second Dublin Latin American Festival and is supported by Dublin City Council and the National Concert Hall. High lights include the free ‘Milonga in the Park’ at Bandstand in St. Stephen’s Green between 5 and 7 pm on Thursday 18th August. The Milonga in the Park will allow Dubliners to sample the dynamism and beauty of Tango.

  • La Milongaita del Jueves, TheGlobe/RiRa, South Great George’s St, 9-11pm, €5

Friday 19th August

  • The Suitcase Milonguera, The Globe/RiRa, South Great George’s St, 9-10.30pm, €12 – explores Argentina’s culture through music, dance, theatre and food. Cover charge includes a Spanish language lesson.

Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st August

  • Tango Café, Stag’s Head, Dame St, 1pm - 5.30pm, €5

Sunday 21st August

  • Tango Extremo meets Piazzolla, National Concert Hall, 8.30pm, €15 – Tango dances to the music of the great Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla
